Underworld LARP Jericho Presents: Dissident Daughter

At noon on Sunday, April 26th a hooded figure approaches Jericho’s town center.

Tall and slim with the body shape of a high elf, he carries no weapons and makes no hostile gestures. As he enters vocal range of the fire, his hood falls back, exposing grey skin, pointed ears and black lips. He speaks and there is an concerned edge to his word’s tone:

“Citizens of Jericho, I require your assistance. There’s something you should see… ”, he motions south toward the forests.

(This scene will continue at the event).

Welcome to Underworld: Jericho’s 3rd and final tavern night of the 2015 season! The first two tavern nights have been the most successful ones we’ve ever run – we plan to continue that trend and finish with a bang.

This event will be different than the first two. Unlike the social focus of the previous tavern nights, you can expect more “adventure” and combat, more puzzles, drama and more treasure. We expect resurrections to occur. There are two mechanics that will be used that we will describe to you now.

1) For the majority of the event, PCs will be split into two groups – low level and high level. The split will occur at the level 6 mark. If we find the low level group is too few in players, we’ll handpick some higher level PCs (most likely healers) and ask if they’d like to join the low level group. This event will have two NPC camps to accommodate the split. We are providing the details of this mechanic now so that players can decide beforehand which character to play, and so that they don’t get split from their friends. You’ll be provided with more information, both in-game and out-of-game, at the event during opening announcements.

2) We will be using a method to determine overall success or failure at this tavern night. This will be represented by two coloured gemstones that we will reveal at the event. When you defeat a monster, solve a puzzle or succeed in some way you will find these stones along with the usual treasure and loot. They can be added to a clear container that will be at the event. When the players fail via deaths, activating traps or failing puzzles, the opposite colour of stone will be added to the container. This mechanic will be used by the shapers and players to visually gauge success throughout the night and will be explained in-game at the event.

This event will be occurring at a location south of Jericho and will be indoors both IG and OOG. Ritual casters will get a chance to cast rituals for the majority of the night, so they may bring their scrolls and materials if desired. This event will be six hours long IG plus a one hour dinner break and time for logistics. Note that in order to give you six hours we have VERY limited cleanup time, so please socialize outside where the weather should be warm. The legion has been very good to us, let’s not keep them waiting to go home.

Are you ready for this, Jericho? If so… see you in game!
